The cast of High School Runner is back! K1, K2, Coach V, Popeye and Slade, along with some new goofballs and doofus-faces, continue their running journeys in this collection of short stories based on Bill Kenley’s hilarious and poignant coming-of-age novel.
Following Sherman Kindle through all four years of his high school experience, these twenty stories explore the powerful connection between running, team and identity. From finding dead bodies on long runs, to racing through snow drifts barefoot to encountering ghosts at cross country camp, K1 and his band of brothers grow together forming the kind of bonds only shared suffering, stupidity and experience can create.
In the tradition of John L. Parker, Jr.’s classic Once a Runner, these stories explore both running and the profound life lessons running provides. They’re love letters to the sport of distance running, but even more, they’re an exploration of the deep friendships and powerful moments being on a team provides.
